Ninth Summer Handicap results - 20 August 2008
13 runners turned up for the 9th handicap race on a decent night for running. Best run on the night came from Mark Caldwell with his 3rd win in 4 races beating his previous P.B. by 34 seconds. Grant Massie who is the youngest runner in the club came in second. Elaine Whyte was the first lady home in 3rd position and she also had the best scratch time on the night. Conditions were ideal for the 8th Race and 18 runners competed on the night. Best runs on the night came from Mark Caldwell coming in first, Alan Watt, Graeme Clark, Malcolm Sinclair and Andrew West who all had P.Bs on the night. Alison West who was first in the last race had her best time of the season finishing in second place. Jim Bowie also had his best time for the season finishing in 4th place. Seventh Summer Handicap Race - 23 July 2008
GIRL POWER RULE AT RUNNING CLUB The weather was hot and airless on 23 July and only 12 runners turned up. The girls showed their true form with Alison West leading the pack and Elaine Whyte being the first female to lead in the Scratch times. Sixth Summer Handicap Race - 9 July 2008
The majority of the 22 runners who turned up for the 6th race had good runs improving their previous times by up to 1 minute. Peter Ritchie is getting back to form and finished well clear of the field. Best performances on the night came from Allan Watt ,Gordon McAllister and David Wilson with Allan and David both having P.B.s. Alison West and Grant Massie both had strong finishes to put them in the points and both should continue improving for the rest of the season. Charlie Noble and Elaine Whyte continue putting in consistent performances both coming first in the scratch sections. Fifth Summer Handicap Race - 25 June 2008
Conditions were good for the 5th handicap race with 21 runners turning up on the night. It was a fairly competitive race with 1 minute splitting the first and 10th finisher.Best runs on the night came from Mark Caldwell and David Wilson who both had P.Bs finishing 1st and 4th. Kevin King keeps up his good form in the scratch section having the best time on the night for the men and Elaine Whyte had the best scratch time for the ladies. Fourth Summer Handicap Race - 11 June 2008
It was a close finish in the 4th handicap race with only 7 seconds splitting the first three runners Keith Bannerman, Jayne Watt and David Wilson. David is improving in each race and if he hadn,t been so engrossed listening to Shirley Basseys greatest hits on his I.Pod he might have been able to hold on to second place.Best runs on the night came from Graeme Clark and Robbie Youngson who both had P.Bs. Elaine Whyte was first in the Ladies Scratch section and Charlie Noble who just missed out on a P.B was 1st in the Mens Section. Third Summer Handicap Race - 28 May 2008
Conditions were not ideal for the 3rd race and only 13 runners turned up. Lou Robertson who only started running with the club last year had the best performance on the night coming in 1st and beating her previous P.B by almost 2 minutes. Kevin King and Robbie Youngson also had P.Bs and Kevin who came in second in the race also had the best scratch time. Elaine Whyte had the best scratch time in the ladies section. It’s good to see Kevin Brooks back competing again and with the four top scratch runners times all being within 1 minute it should be fairly competitive for the top scratch runner for the season. Second Summer Handicap Race - 14 May 2008
21 runners turned up for the second handicap race with most runners improving their times due to the better weather conditions. Best run on the night came from Stephen Buchan coming in 1st with Andrew West who had a P.B. coming in a close second. Robbie Youngson also had a P.B. on the night but he will have to step up the training if he wants to keep in front of Martin whose scratch time was only 10secs more than his. Carol Massie,Gillian Strachan, Lisa Stephen and Annie Stephen all had good runs on the night finishing in the points. Best Scratch times came from Elaine Whyte and Charlie Noble. First Summer Handicap Race - 30 April 2008
Considering the poor conditions on the night a reasonable amount of runners turned up for the 1st handicap Summer Race over the 5.7mile course.The heavy rain didn,t affect Alex Duthie who started the season with a P.B. Eleventh Winter Handicap Race - 19 March 2008
The 11th handicap race produced the most competitive race of the season. Conditions were ideal and the following runners all had P.Bs on the night Alison West, Robert McNab, Carol Massie, Andy Higgins, Zander Mitchell, Lisa Stephen, Martin Youngson, Robbie Youngson, Elaine Whyte and Charlie Noble. Best run on the night came from Elaine Whyte who broke the Ladies Course Record with a time of 31 minutes and 55 seconds. It is good to see Gordon McAllister who is still recovering from injury competing on the night and winning the race. Andy Higgins clinched the top position in the league with his best performance for the season. The following runners are still competing for 2nd and 3rd position, Ally Mathers, Maureen Mathers, Elaine Whyte and Robbie Youngson and hopefully there will be a big turnout for the last race to push these runners to the finish. Tenth Winter Handicap Race - 05 March 2008
With 2 races to go its getting tight at the top of the league with the following still in the running for the top 3 places: Andy Higgins 53 points Ally Mathers 48 Maureen Mathers, Robbie Youngson and Elaine Whyte 39 and Kevin King 36. 20 runners turned up for the 10th race and Lou Robertson Ally Mathers and Charlie Noble all had P.Bs. Best runs on the night came from Lou Robertson and Carol Massie who finished 1st and 2nd. Come on guys this is not good enough step up the training. On ideal conditions for running 24 runners turned up for the 9th Handicap Race. The best runs on the night came from Zander Mitchell, Martin Youngson and Robbie Youngson who all had P.Bs on the night. Robert McNab is getting back on form coming in 1st on the night well clear of the field. Jayne Watts form is improving and she was the first lady home in 4th position. Andy Higgins keeps up his good form getting in the points for the 9th consecutive race and increasing his lead at the top of the table. On a good night for running, 21 runners turned up for the 8th Handicap race. Maureen Mathers, Zander Mitchell and Robbie Youngson all had P.Bs on the night. Alec Duthie came home well clear of the field with Keith Bannerman and Maureen Mathers coming in 2nd and 3rd. Lisa Stephen and Lou Robertson had good runs on the night and Andy Higgins managed to get in the points to retain his position at the top of the league. Seventh Winter Handicap Race - 23 January 2008

Click here for Race 7 results On a good night for running 23 runners turned up for the 7th handicap race. Its fine to see Graeme Clark back racing again and he had a good run coming home well clear of the other runners. Best runs on the night came from Maureen Mathers and Robbie youngson coming in second and third. Both runners had P.Bs on the night and are now challenging for the top 3 positions in the league. In the scratch sections it was Kevin King and Elaine Whyte for the second week in a row who had the best times. Andy Higgins continues to be the most consistent runner in the league getting points for the seventh consecutive time. Helen Harper and Diane Innes are improving every week and it shouldn,t be long before they are finishing in the points. 16 runners turned up for the 5th Handicap Race on Christmas Eve. Martin Youngson, Maureen Mathers and Grant Massie continue to improve each week coming in 1st,2nd and 3rd. Fourth Winter Handicap Race - 12 December 2007

The majority of runners times were ½ a minute down probably due to the strong winds when running from the harbour to the all weather pitch. Best run on the night came from Maureen Mathers who beat her previous best time by 1 ½ minutes. Alec Duthie and Robbie Youngson who had a P.B. on the night came in second and third. Andy Higgins and Ally Mathers who had the best scratch time maintained their good form to remain in the top 2 positions in the league. Martin Youngson , Helen Harper and Diane Innes all had good runs for their first time round the course. Considering it was Halloween night there was a reasonable turn out of 16 runners for the 1st Winter Handicap Race. Best runs on the night came from Andy Higgins coming in well clear of the field and Alan Watt who had a P.B. Alison West,Liz Bannerman and Maureen Mathers who was running in her first race all had good times. Elaine Whyte had the best Scratch time in the ladies section and Charlie Noble had the best Scratch time for the men with Kevin King who is getting back to form coming in second. Twelfth and Final Summer Handicap Race - 03 October 2007

In the final race of the Summer Season Fiona Buchan and Stephen Buchan had the best runs on the night, both having P.Bs which put them in 1st and 2nd position in the final league placings. Annie Stephen was also in the points and finished in 3rd position in the league. Alec Watt had his best run of the season coming in 2nd in the race with Eric and Elaine Whyte who have both been running well finished in 3rd and 4th position. Tenth Summer Handicap Race - 05 September 2007
20 runners turned up for the 10th handicap race which produced the best race of the season. Eric Whyte had an excellent run coming home an impressive 37 secs clear of the field.The next 9 runners all had good runs finishing within a 47 secs period. Annie Stephen and Stephen Buchan both had P.Bs on consecutive races. Annies 3rd place finish now moves her 3 points clear in the league.The other main contenders in the league Fiona Buchan,Stephen Buchan, Allan Watt, Gillian Strachan and Ally Mathers will need good runs in the last two races if they want to finish in the top 3. Peter Ritchie mormond Hill Handicap - 15 August 2007
21 runners turned up for the first annual "Peter Ritchie Mormond Hill Challenge". The race starts in the village with the half way distance being 4 miles at the top of the Hill and stangely enough its 4 miles back to the starting point. The race was won by one of the local young lads Jim Ingram coming home 48 secs clear of the field. Ally Mathers came in second with Eric Whyte coming in third. Lisa Stephen was the first lady back followed by Carol Massie and Gillian Strachan. The best 3 handicap times came from Jim Ingram 78:48 Ally Mathers 79:36 Eric Whyte 79:56 The best 3 scratch times came from Keith Buchan 51:23 Barry Ingram 55:09 and Ally Mathers 55:26. The best set of blisters 1st Catherine Mitchell 2nd Alison West.

The race is now on a shorter course 5.7 miles due to some of the younger runners struggling with the longer distance. Elaine Whyte had her 3rd P.B of the season and is top Ladies Scratch Runner with Lisa 2nd and Gillian 3rd. Malcolm Sinclair had a seasons best winning the mens Scratch on the night. Keith Buchan was the top mens scratch runner for the season with Charlie Noble 2nd Malcolm Sinclair 3rd and Kevin King 4th. John Davies Cruises to the Title.

Winter Handicap Race 12 - 22 March 2006 With Lisa Stephen absent due to illness from the last race, John had the luxury of a easy run to complete a winning series of races. John has improved his time by 5 minutes over the winter and produced 7 PB's, one more than Lisa, to win the title by a margin of 3 points. Lisa improved her times by over 6 minutes and was consistently in the points but just didn't have enough top thrree places to overhaul John. Alan Watt, who has taken points in the last 5 races finished in third place ahead of Ally Mathers who saved his best for last. well done to the Handicapper for once again taking the Winter League right up the last race.

Winter Handicap Race 12 - 22 March 2006 Course Record smashed by Keith Buchan with a time of 27'55". This is the first time tha 28' has been bettered. The night was cold but perfect for good times. A total of 6 PB's from Keith, Alan Watt, Alexander Wiseman, Lisa Stephen, Gillian Strachan and Gordon Harper. This meant that John Davies was out of the points for only the second time in 10 races. Winter Handicap Race 11 - 08 March 2006 John knocked a minute off his PB to extend his lead at the top of the league. Lisa was 1 second outside her PB but was competely out of the points. That second cost her 2 points.

White Cow Wood 9K The club had notable success at the Boxing Day run in the woods. Keith Buchan won the mens race and came within 3 seconds of breaking the course record. Gillian won the ladies with Sandra in second place. Well done and keep it up in the New Year.

Winter Handicap Race 6 - 28 December Gillian took the top points on a slippy night for running. Icy pavements slowed most times. The notable exception was Keith Buchan who posted a Club record time of 28'13" just a few seconds behind guest runner Darren Strachan. Lisa repeated her time from the last race to equal her PB. Best times were also set by Derek Wiseman and Gordon Harper. The only runner in the top positions to score was Ally Mathers who added 3 points to his total to take him into joint second place behind Lisa. Handicap positions were 1- Gillian; 2 - Charlie Noble; 3 - Keith Buchan/Darren Strachan; 4 - Ally; 5 - Stephen Milne; 6 - Robbie

Lossie Turkey Trot December 18 Charlie ran out of his skin to keep within 50 sec of Keith Buchan. This was good enough for 1st MSV. Gillian's run was good for 2nd Senior; Maureen Mackie 3rd vet; and Sandra for 2nd Senior Vet.

Winter Handicap Race 5 - 14 December PB's by Tracy, Lisa, John and Ron on a difficult night for running due to a strong westerly wind. Lisa and John took over a minute off their best times.

Winter Handicap 30 November Alec Duthie and Ally Mathers were the big performer, taking 6 and 5 points respectively. However the best runs were produced by those in the minor points: PB's were recorded by Gordon McAllister; Lisa Stephen; Ron Retalic; Stephen Buchan; and a new course record by Keith Buchan - 28'35"
The handicapper was moved by such an exceptional performance to introduce bonus points for PB's for those runners not otherwise in the points. Thus a PB when finishing 6th or worse will henceforth be worth 2 points.

The final race of the summer handicap series was run in perfect still conditions. Ideal for fast times. And it was fast times we got. Graeme knew he had to be in the points to knock Charlie off the top spot. Running hard to close down on those in front, Graeme got himself into the points but was thwarted within the last 200 metres when Charlie overhauled him to take the 4 points to ensure he remained in 1st place at the end of the season. Graeme reduced his season best by 1 min while Charlie took 20 seconds off his. Summer Handicap 2005- 11th Race (21 September)Results:

Another blustery night made it difficult for most runners. However George Mutch and Andrew West again knocked chunks off their PB's - 2'30" and 1' respectively. Graeme Clark again took 2 pts to come within 1 point of catching Charlie Noble at the top of the Handicap. If it hadn't been for an excellent years best by Scott Paterson it could have been all square at the top. Scott recorded 44'59" to take a minute of his previous best. Point scorers were 6pts - George; 5pts - Andrew; 4 pts - Scott; 3pts - Stephen Milne; 2 pts - Graeme and 1 pt - Robbie Buchan.
Robbie has now been in the points 7 times this season, the same number of times as Graeme. The difference being Robbie has 10pts , Graeme has 23.

With Gillian and Charlie struggling a little after the Elgin Marathon it gave a chance for others to take some points. With races running out, Charlie has surely taken an unassailable lead in the Scratch competition. However his lead in the handicap is down to just 3 points with Graeme taking 2 valuable points to keep in with a chance of upsetting Charlies double ambitions. Points were as followd: 6pts - Sandra Milne; 5pts - Andrew West; 4pts - George Mutch; 3 pts - Stephen Milne; 2pts - Graeme Clark; 1pt - Robbie Buchan.
