Best performances on the night came from Jayne Watt coming in second and Catherine Mitchell whose fourth position was good enough to clinch the top position in the league.
Jayne and Catherine also had P.Bs.

The most competitive race of the season with the following 9 runners all getting P.Bs, Hannah Lawrance, Catherine Mitchell, Stephen Findlay, Alec Watt, Mark Caldwell, David Wilson, Stuart Dickson, Kevin King and Graeme Sinclair.
Best run on the night for the men would go to Kevin King who broke the 6 minute per mile barrier with the second best scratch time of the season. Best runs for the ladies would go to Hannah Lawrance who beat her previous P.B. by 2 minutes and 33 secs and Catherine Mitchell who came in 4th and increased her lead at the top of the league. Nine runners are still in contention for the top 3 places in the league with one race to go.

There was a good turnout of 21 runners for the 10th handicap race. Steven Buchan, Simon Kelly and Graeme Sinclair were running in their first race and they all had good times. Best performances on the night would go to Hannah Lawrance, Alec Watt and Stuart Dickson who all had P.Bs on the night improving on their previous best times by 1 minute approx and finishing first,second and third.
Stuart has been improving in every race and is now up with the top 3 Scratch Runners in the club.

GORDON McALLISTER HAS HIS 4TH P.B. FOR THE SEASON
18 runners competed in the 9th handicap race. Alec Watt whose times have been consistent all season won the race with Stephen Findlay who had a P.B not far behind and Stephen Milne who is finally getting back on form coming in third. Best run on the night goes to Gordon McAllister who had his 4th P.B. for the season which is some achievement for a young loon! Alison West was the first lady home in 4th position which keeps her in contention for one of the top three places in the league. Kevin King was running in his first race of the season and had the best scratch time for the men and Gillian Strachan had the best scratch time for the ladies.

It was perfect conditions for the 15 runners who competed in the "Peter Ritchie Mormond Hill Challenge". There were some excellent runs with 6 runners getting P.Bs, Gordon McAllister, Gillian Strachan, Jim Bowie, Alec Duthie, Jayne Watt and John Watt. Best performance on the night would go to Mark Caldwell who one the race and had the best Scratch Time. Gordon McAllister had an excellent run coming in second and Elaine Whyte who had the best Scratch time for the ladies came in third. 20 runners competed in the 8th handicap race. It was the girls who coped with the warm humid conditions best with Jayne Watt having the best run on the night coming in first, beating her previous P.B. by a massive 42 seconds.
Gillian Strachan who has been improving all season came in second and just missed out on the best Scratch time for the ladies. Gordon McAllister also had a P.B. and came in third. Keith Buchan who was running in his first race of the season had the best scratch time for the men and Elaine Whyte had the best Scratch time for the ladies. Charlie Noble also had a good run which keeps him in contention for the top position in the league.

Even though conditions were warm and humid for the 18 runners who were competing, there were some really good performances on the night. Hannah Lawrance and Stuart Dickson who are competing in their first season both had P.Bs and Hannah won the race coming in well clear of the field. Joyce Ritchie who was running in her second race had a P.B and came in 3rd. Best run on the night would go to Charlie Noble who had a seasons best, the best scratch time and came in second. 17 runners competed in the 6th Handicap Race. It was a lot cooler than previous races and strong winds made it hard going for the last couple of miles. Great runs from Lisa Stephen, Stephen Findlay and Catherine Mitchell who all had P.Bs. Joyce Ritchie who was running in her first race had a good run coming in second. Best run on the night would go to Stuart Dickson who won the race and also had a P.B. Not sure if the rest of the men were tired out with housework as there were 7 ladies in the first 10 home. Catherine Mitchell smashes her P.B.
20 runners competed in the 5th handicap race. Hannah Lawrence, Liam Cameron and Stewart Dickson were all competing for the first time and they all had good runs. Best run on the night came from Catherine Mitchell who came home well clear of the field pushing hard right till the end of the race and beating her previous P.B by a massive 1 minute and 40 seconds. Stephen Findlay who was running in his first race of the season had an excellent run coming home in second position with Carol Massie and Charlie Noble not too far behind. Gordon McAllister is back to his best form and also had a P.B.

CHARLIES BACK ON FORM Conditions were very humid for the 19 runners who turned up for the 3rd race.It was the most competitive race of the season with 9 runners finishing within 37 seconds. (The race Handicapper is really good at his job!!!) Excellent times from Sandra Milne, Jayne Watt and David Wilson who all had P.Bs. Best run on the night would have to go to Charlie Noble who won the race and had the best Scratch time. Thanks to Stephen Milne for being the race starter. Graeme Clark has volunteered to be the 2nd race starter. 15 runners competed in the 1st Summer Handicap Race over a distance of 5.7 miles. Some of the regular runners missed out on the first race as they were recovering from the London Marathon. It was a reasonably close finish with the first 4 runners finishing within a 40 second period. Stephen Buchan is back on form and won the race with Ally Mathers who had the best scratch time not far behind. Alec Watt who hasn,t raced for some time had a good run coming in third. Gordon McAllister and David Wilson had P.Bs. Jayne Watt was the first lady to finish just beating Alison West to the line. The winner of the 2008/09 Handicap is David Wilson, leaving Stephen Milne All Shook Up in second and Elaine in 3rd. She failed to score any points in race 10 when it was Now or Never. For those with Suspicious Minds, I am assured that his handicap was closely monitored by R.T.B.

A great race to finish off the season with 5 runners Alec Duthie, Gillian Strachan, Stephen Milne,Lisa Stephen and Gordon McAllister all getting P.Bs. It looks like the Handicapper is finally getting it right!!! with the first 6 runners finishing within 13 seconds. Ally Mathers is back to his best form and came in first just in front of Scott Gibb who had a seasons best. Stephen Milnes 3rd place on the night was good enough to put him in second place in the league. Elaine Whyte had the best scratch time on the night and hopefully she may be willing to take the men on some additional training runs to improve their performances prior to the Summer Season starting. It was a close call who had the best run of the 16 runners who turned up for the 11th race. Gordon McAllister who came in first, Alec Duthie and Lisa Stephen Stephen all had P.Bs on the night. Best run though would have to go to David Wilson who had the best scratch time for the men,had a P.B on the night coming in second and clinched Top Position in the league. Elaine Whyte who is presently second in the league had the best Scratch time overall on the night. Jayne Watt who came in third had a seasons best and Scott Gibb who was running in his first race had a good run. On a night when conditions were ideal for running only 16 runners turned up for the 10th handicap race. Best performance on the night came from Gillian Strachan who had a P.B. on the night and finished well clear of the field. Michael Thom who was competing in his second race came in second with a season’s best time. Lisa Stephen who has been consistent all season had her best performance of the year also getting a P.B. Kevin King and Elaine Whyte had the best scratch times on the night. Kevin’s 6th position in the race puts him in contention for finishing in the top three. The top 3 in the league failed to get in the points and with 2 races to go 13 runners still have the chance to finish in the top places. Oh!..... and Jane jumps into the top 25 with 8 points. You would have needed to be at your best form to get into the points in the 9th race as the top 10 runners out of the 20 all had good performances. Best performance of the year so far came from Elaine Whyte breaking the Ladies Course Record by 17 seconds. Charlie McIntyre, Malcolm Sinclair and David Wilson who maintains his position at the top of the league all had P.Bs. One of the bookies favourites Alison West had her best performance of the year coming in first well clear of the field. Eighth Winter Handicap results - 04 February 2009

The most competitive race of the season so far with the first 10 runners out of the 18 who turned up finishing within 1 minute. Excellent runs from Charlie McIntyre,Stephen Milne and Lisa Stephen who all had P.Bs finishing 1,2 and 5th. Kevin King and Elaine Whyte had the best scratch times. David Wilson who has been the most consistent runner came in 4th increasing his lead at the top of the league. With 4 races to go several runners still have the chance to be top dog but they will have to up their training if they are going to catch David. Seventh Winter Handicap results - 21 January 2009

20 runners turned up for the 7th handicap race. Most of the runner’s times were slower than the previous week due to the frost making it tricky to run flat out. This wasn’t the case for Malcolm Sinclair and Elaine Whyte who had the best runs on the night finishing 1st and 3rd. David Wilson also had a good run coming in 2nd maintaining his position at the top of the league. Best scratch runs on the night came from Kevin King and Elaine Whyte. Sixth Winter Handicap results and Peterhead Fraserburgh Beach Race - 07 January 2009


The annual Peterhead To Fraserburgh beach run took place on the 3rd of January over the distance of 17miles with 20 runners competing. The Broch Running Club did well in the race with Mark Caldwell winning the race in 2 hrs 6 mins and 7 secs and Stephen Milne in 2nd place with a time of 2:9:44. First lady home was Lisa Stephen in a time of 2:23:30 followed by Carol Massie 2:41:26. The three "Amigos" Robbie McDonald Malcolm Sinclair and Michael Dick all finished in the same cannie time of 2:28:30. 20 runners turned up for the 6th Handicap race. Best run on the night would have to go to Mark Caldwell who followed up being 1st in the Peterhead to Fraserburgh beach run with a P.B. coming second in the race. Alec Duthie is back to peak fitness winning his second race of the season and starting to challenge for the top positions in the league. It is good to see Charlie McIntyre back racing which will make the scratch section more competitive. Best scratch runs on the night came from Kevin King and Elaine Whyte. Elaines 3 rd position puts her 2nd in the league just 1 point behind David Wilson who was in the points for the 5th time out of 6 races. Fifth Winter Handicap results - 22 December 2008

Although conditions were excellent for running only 14 runners turned up for the 5th handicap race. Kevin King who just beat Jim Bowie to the line put in the performance of the year so far winning the race, having the best scratch time and also getting a P.B. Gillian Strachan and Stephen Milne both had P.Bs and Stephens 3rd place hoisted him to the top of the league. The majority of the 20 runners times were up on their last race times due to the strong winds on the night. This wasn't, the case for Maureen Mathers, Jim Bowie, Stephen Milne and Kevin King who all had excellent runs. A large turn out of 25 runners turned up for the second handicap race. The conditions were perfect and Carol Massie, Vicky Anderson, David Wilson, Stephen Milne and Stephen Buchan all had P.Bs on the night. Conditions were good for the first of twelve 5 mile Winter Handicap races round the town. Alec Duthie is the early pacesetter coming in first in the race just beating Robbie Youngson with David Wilson coming in third.
